Laura's Amaranth Spice Cookies

Image
My recent M.O. (modus operandi... or method of operation, to some) first thing in the morning after getting out of bed is to throw two cookies into the toaster over just to warm them up.  Then I usually munch on those slowly while I prepare the actual breakfast.   Now I realize *I* am calling them cookies, but to anyone used to a traditional cookie... ha!  No... they'd be like, "Um, you forgot to add the sugar."  Here's my cookie recipe, and trust me... it feels like a lustful treat. Note the "D" in the title.  That means this is the fourth iteration of the recipe.  I recently referred to myself (silently, in my head... where the VAST majority of my conversations take place) as a "systems analyst".  Not that I really know what that means, but in looking at myself and how I react to things, I've discovered that one of my primary goals is to look at things (or systems) and analyze how I can make it better (if it needs bettering... not everything ...

Laura's Version of John Day's Longevity Soup

First thing each morning, I drink 16 ounces of water before getting out of bed.  I take this time to catch on up little chores.  Some of the things I can do with this 20 minutes include: Write in my Full Focus Planner Read (I'm currently reading The Longevity Plan ) Take care of emails or photos on my phone Today I dealt with the photo gallery on my phone.  I had over 400 images in my camera folder and by the time I was done I had 7.  Yay!  I deleted ones I have no use for whether I liked them or not.  I am in a "paring down" mode (think " Swedish Death Cleanse "), so if I'm on the fence about something I stop and give it a good think.  Do I really have a place for this?  Can I really see a use for this in my future?  So I delete some images and stick the other ones into appropriate folders such as "family photos", "visual inspiration", "jewelry photos that need editing", etc. Then on to breakfast.  I often have "Longevity ...

The Purpose of This Blog

I can't follow most recipes; not at the moment, anyway.  I currently have what MOST people consider a super restrictive way of eating, but truthfully there is SO much variety I don't see it as restrictive... until. Until I go to someone's house, or a party, or to a restaurant and am badgered with, "Oh just try it.  A little won't hurt you."  "You'll hurt my feelings if you don't have some."  "I made it just for you."  "Don't you want to be part of the fun?" I am learning the fine art of saying no without sounding like a stubborn ass.  I'm still a work in progress. Four or five years ago I experimented with elimination dieting and discovered not eating dairy meant having no migraines.  Something I'd suffered with my entire life.  Such a simple solution to such a traumatizing problem.       I also discovered that eating corn made my ears stuff up... to the point where it was like trying to listen to life while be...
